Preserving a little history
The people next door to my wife’s family home have been there since the 1940s and they recently sold the house because none of the family can really maintain it. It’s a real shame to see a family home being sold and if pretty much every other house sold on this street in that last five years are any indication then some builders will be moving in to either:
- Gut the house and turn it into one of those old/new debacles
- Tear the house down and put two tiny long town house like things on there
Our hopes that a family will move in are fairly small realistically. So that being said the old owners had a grape vine on the fence that they have tended to for years and years and it’s been through some lean times as well as some really big growth spurts (like now).
We don’t want to see it wiped out so we’re going to take some cuttings (wrong time of year unfortunately) and see if we can continue it on.
Been reading up on various ways so we’re going to try a couple which I’ll let you all know how it goes.

Good luck with that Lee. Grapes are something I want to grow eventually.

Maybe if they work out in winter I might be able to send you a cutting.
