Soon I will have snow peas BAHAHAHAHA
That’s right for the first time ever for me I have the beginnings of pea pods growing on the vines. Are they referred to as vines? They’re climbing like vines but I just can’t picture anyone referring to them as vines before? I’ve never managed to grow peas to this stage before so I’m very excited.

Since taking these shots there have been several other flowers appearing and one of them has begun to turn into the pod. The snow pea is an excellent source of vitamin C, fibre and potassium and is a relative newer species developed in China when compared to other peas which have been dated as far back as 5000 BC. Best eaten raw in my opinion if you are going to cook it in a stir fry add it towards the end of the cooking to make sure it’s still crisp.

You can see the wire has worked really well. I’m about to grow from seed a different type of pea and I’ll use the spot that the one that was killed had and grow the younger plant in its place.

Hi Jarrad - I’m not really sure of the type, just a standard generic type I guess. I’m growing normal peas right now with a lot less success!

My snow peas have just flowered and are thriving - which is amazing considering that it’s the wrong time of year to be growing them (almost Summer in the southern hemisphere). Pretty little flowers too! Growing them up a homemade trellis in my townhouse courtyard (small)

My new batch of snow peas withered in the heat which was a real shame because I thought I had a great place for them. So I’m pretty disappointed with them.
But it sounds like they’re working out for you! They are cool little flowers and now I’m thinking about them I’m going to have to grow maybe a pot of them inside and see how I go with that.

There is nothing better than fresh snow peas especially when you can pick your own. You’ve made me want to get out into the garden and starting planting.
